WGSDCA Top Ten Program Rules
In order to encourage those with champion dogs to continue to show and promote their dogs, the WGSDCA will hold a Top Ten competition for each calendar year beginning with 2003.
The Top Ten competition shall be open to all AKC or CKC registered white coated German Shepherd Dogs six months of age or older. Surgically altered dogs are not eligible except when entered in the veterans classes in WGSDCA shows.
When a dog earns a Best of Breed placement, he will be awarded one top ten point for each dog beaten in breed competition. The ten dogs with the highest number of top ten points will constitute the Top Ten dogs in the WGSDCA. At the end of the calendar year, the Top Ten Dogs for that year shall be recorded and recognized. No top ten points will carry over from one year to another.
Best of Breed wins at WGSDCA shows and host shows (shows sanctioned by the WGSDCA at which championship points may be awarded) will be used to calculate top ten points. Best of Breed wins from WGSDCA shows will be automatically added to the top ten points. When a dog wins Best of Breed in a host show, the dog owner or the owner's agent must compete the host show report form and indicate on the form that they are applying for Top Ten points in addition to championship points. The Application for Championship Points in the WGSDCA must be submitted to the National Show and Trial Coordinator within 30 days of the date the show results are available in order to be counted for top ten competition. The owner of the dog does not need to be a WGSDCA member to apply for top ten points.
The current Top Ten list will be available on the Web site and published in the newsletter. Top Ten competition is not meant to conflict with or replace regular competition. Dogs can still be awarded points towards a WGSDCA championship under the same rules that previously applied.
