Raising a puppy is a lot of work and isn't the right anwser for everyone. Many people would prefer to adopt an adult wGSD who is not longer in the puppy stage of life. The Humane Society of the United States estimates that 6-8 million dogs and cats enter shelters every year in the United States and of these, half are euthanized. There are many white German Shepherds that are abandonded each year that are looking for homes and families to love them.
Many people think that if you want a purebred dog, you have to go to a breeder, but about 25% of dogs in shelters each year are purebred. So how do you go about finding a white German Shepherd Dog that needs a home?
- Contact your local shelter and shelters in your area. Also contact breeders in your area to see if they know of dogs needing homes.
- Check shelters regionally and nationally. The best site for this is Petfinder. You can search for a specific breed and geographic area.
